Placemaking and Activation
Enhancing our streetscape initiatives, the BID’s Placemaking program designs, implements and manages improvements to the public spaces throughout Oakland to provide safe, attractive, and active places for residents, workers, and visitors. Through plaza and street furniture, shade and light structures, public art, plantings, and activities Oakland's unique narrative is reflected into the built environment.
Oak Ave Live!
Free outdoor concert series on Oakland Avenue. Live performances, drink specials, and game every Saturday from 6-9PM.
Oakland Open Space Pilots
In partnership with the Pittsburgh Innovation District, OBID launched a series of open space activation strategies to enhance business district vibrancy.
Oakland Streateries
OBID worked with local businesses to create inviting streeteries, outdoor-dining areas along Oakland Avenue, Meyran Avenue, and between Forbes Avenue & Fifth Avenue.
