Oakland Winter Lights Returns December 4 with Expanded Kickoff Celebration

Neighborhood-wide light installations to illuminate Oakland through the darkest months of the year, running Friday, December 4 – February 28. 

Oakland Winter Lights is back for another season, transforming the neighborhood with light installations that stretch from the Craig Street Corridor down through the Oakland Business Improvement District at Fifth and Forbes and over to The Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden. This year's season opens with a brand-new kickoff event in The Grove at newly unveiled Daniel J and Carole L Kamin Tower at UPMC Presbyterian, featuring light projections, live music, small bites & drinks, and a community gathering. 

New this year: "The Dandelion Garden" a pop-up parklet of 15 life-size LED dandelion sculptures blooming in Forbes Plaza after dark. It's shaping up to be one of the most photographed spots of the season, with more installations by Projectile Objects and Cornelius Henke III still to be announced. 

Oakland Winter Lights isn't just a holiday lights display — it's a season-long initiative designed to bring warmth, activity, and connection to the neighborhood through winter's dreariest months, well past the holidays and into the new year.
