Presencia de América Latina
This event has passed
The Presencia de América Latina mural was created by Mexican artist Jorge González Camarena in 1965. This mural illustrates the history, unity, and brotherhood of Latin American cultures. Meant to be viewed from left to right, the mural shows the copihue (the national plant of Chile) intertwined with a huge Mexican nopal cactus signifying the solidarity of the two countries. The conquest is represented by corpses in armor, the central image of faces represents different ethnicities merging into one, and more recent history shows people and natural resources being fed into the machines of industry. Flags of Latin American nations wave in sequence while The Andes Mountains loom in the background. Learn more by clicking here!
